Death is always unexpected! No matter how prepared one may be or how far away one may see it coming from, it always hits differently. After all, losing a loved one isn’t something anyone willingly signs up for. And recently, the golf world witnessed that same shooting pain when a veteran of the sport, a two-time senior tour winner who was also a crucial figure in setting up the PGA Tour of Champions, passed away at the age of 91.

Golf fans send out prayers to the PGA Tour of Champions star’s family

Just hours ago, the Senior Circuit announced the passing of Jim Ferree, a former PGA Tour and Champions Tour member. While many may not have heard of the late golf pro, they most certainly would have seen him. Well, at least they’ve seen his silhouette! After all, he was the model behind the old Senior Tour logo of a man in knickers swinging his club.

Despite his age, Ferree’s demise tore a hole through every golf fan’s heart. Back in his day, he was a splendid golfer, and won once on the PGA Tour and then twice on the Senior Tour. He had cemented his name among the golf greats of the generation.

The heartbroken golf fans took to Instagram to pay their respects to Ferree and his family. “One of the finest gentlemen of all time!! we will all miss him. RIP” wrote one fan. And another commented, “A true gentleman and a classy swinger of the club.”

People who had played with him in the past paid homage to him, too. “Fortunate to play with Jim one time. Wonderful man, still think about that day. Condolences to his family,” said one. Another wrote, “Played with Jim many times in college at Old Town Club where his father was the Head Golf Pro. RIP JF. One of the nicest I ever met.”

Fans further sent prayers his family’s way. “Condolences to his family. God bless him,” stated one fan, while another wrote, “God bless Jim and family.” They further reminisced about how much class they truly possessed, and one commented, “Class personified RIP.” “Such a good man. He will be missed,” said another fan.
