After over two decades in the game, Tiger Woods has successfully established himself as a living legend. Though injuries and his car crash last year have sidelined him for a long time, Woods’ journey has been unforgettable. And certain stats only prove why Woods is probably the greatest golfer of all time.

One such record narrows down to the Bay Hill Golf Club.

Owned by the late Arnold Palmer, this course is witness to many great performances and victories. Many of them apparently belong to Woods.

Tiger Woods ruled Bay Hill Golf Club during these years

According to some recent stats, Tiger Woods was -109 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational from 2000 to 2013. This means he was 73 shots better than Vijay Singh, who was next in line with -36. Overall, Woods won eight times and has started the event a total of 13 times.

Not only does this prove how iconic the 15-time major winner is, but it also solidifies Woods’ rich history with the venue and Palmer.

Interestingly, Woods’ journey at the Bay Hill Golf Club began in 1991 when he secured his US Junior Amateur. Later on, when he turned professional, Woods made sure to dominate at the venue for years to come.

Some iconic wins at the venue

One of Woods’ most iconic Arnold Palmer Invitational wins came in 2009. Winning for the first time since 2008, the now 46-year-old ended up coming back from a five-shot margin. “It feels good to be back in contention, to feel the rush,” Woods said. “It’s been awhile, but God, it felt good.”

Of course, his 2012 win, which ended a long winless period lasting almost three years, was just as iconic.

Another notable win remains his 2001 win, where he broke a slump, shut critics up, and also beat Phil Mickelson. Their rivalry was much more potent back then, and the win meant a lot to Woods and his fans.

“I got an ‘Arnold Palmer’ break,” Woods said. “I was able to get some wonderful breaks down the stretch. It was not a pretty round of golf, but I got the ball in the hole. His victory had come after no wins for six events. Furthermore, the 2002 event saw Woods beating Mickelson once again.

His other wins include 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2013 events.

While all wins by Woods are iconic in one way or another, his history with the venue, event, and Palmer will forever stand out. Unfortunately, his ongoing recovery has prevented him from playing this year. In fact, the 82-time PGA Tour winner last played the PNC Championship with his son Charlie, and currently has no schedule for his return.

As the year progresses, one can only hope for Woods’ speedy recovery and return to the course.
