The upcoming Masters Tournament is expected to take center stage in the season’s most packed field. Indeed, the roster at the Augusta National Golf Club will be the first time when LIV golfers participate on a PGA Tour-dominated field. The situation is anticipated to be tense given the hostilities around the circuit, but many of the LIV players have recently downplayed the fervor. But what has four-time major championship winner Brooks Koepka made out of the situation?

Brooks Koepka has his say regarding the showdown at the Masters

The 32-year-old golfer was one of LIV Golf’s most expensive players, having signed an alleged contract upward of $100 million. While his performances barely merited the enormous fee in the rebel league’s inaugural season, Koepka remains one of the most talented golfers around.

But with an imminent LIV vs PGA battle set to commence next week, is the former World No. 1 feeling the heat? Downplaying the anticipation of the event, Koepka chose to remain out of trouble.

“I still love the PGA Tour. I’ve got nothing against them. A lot of guys I see on a daily basis around Jupiter still play on the PGA Tour,” he said. The four-time major championship winner also denied any harsh feelings toward the PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan. “I have nothing against Jay [Monahan, PGA Tour commissioner]. It’s just competition, right?”

Furthermore, Koepka believed that one’s loyalties didn’t matter until the fans were enjoying the show. “We are just trying to put up the best model we can, the best golf and then it’s up to the fans. We want people to watch and come to the events. We want to put on a show for everybody,” he said.

Koepka’s comment is softer than Bubba Watson’s message

Similar to Koepka, the week preceding the prestigious tournament has seen many players have their say regarding the two factions. One such golfer was Bubba Watson, who claimed that LIV Golf’s most dominant critic, Rory McIlroy, was “protecting his business.”

“Protecting his entity, man,” the LIV golfer said of McIlroy. “He’s protecting his business, which is fine.”
