Justin Thomas has faced setbacks throughout this season. And his gameplay mostly faltered in many of the coveted events due to his poor form. The two time major winner missed cuts in prominent tournaments like the Memorial Tournament, the US Open Championship, the RM Classic, the Open Championship, and the 3M Open. Furthermore, he failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs after finishing 71st in the standings.
Thus, his Ryder Cup dreams were almost desolate and under threat. But this ailing former world no. 1 found solace in a fellow PGA Tour veteran.

Most of the players who made it to the FedEx Playoffs would take off-course time to rest before the next season tees off because by the time the Tour Championship ends, they have already made all possible efforts to woo the US Ryder Cup Captain, Zach Johnson.
But Justin Thomas, whose Ryder Cup chances were already dwindling after his below-par performance, has found a last resort to bid a final goodbye to this disappointing season. Thus, his last option remains the Fortinet Championship, taking place on September 14 at the Silverado Resort and Spa-North Course. But again, this tournament’s time frame is two weeks later, on August 29, when Zach Johnson is supposed to pick his best assets for the team. Thus, his chances are as good as over.
While the two-time major winner is utilizing his last-ditch efforts to showcase his capabilities, another PGA Tour veteran, Geoff Ogilvy, shared his words of comfort for the 15-time PGA Tour winner. The 46-year-old said, “If they don’t take him, it’s the worst call ever. He’s the best head-to-head match player in the world.” Reflecting on the fact that, despite the recent backlash, Thomas is one of the most prominent golfers, and not choosing him would be a big mistake.

In addition to this, the 8-time PGA Tour winner, who has been the vice-captain for an international team in the Presidents Cup, also added, “JT would be my first pick. I’ve been inside the ropes at enough Presidents Cups; there’s just no chance you don’t take Justin. He does something to the team. He goes out front and leads, fist pumps, and makes everyone behind him believe.”

Thomas recently posted on social media about a possible return to game mindset. He posted a series of old pictures on his Instagram, and along with them, wrote about the hopeful thoughts he carries as he has found the season educational. And the support that he received from his close ones has been beyond comprehension.
In addition to this, he even hints at coming back to the greens this fall, “Can’t wait for the chance to tee it up some this fall and get back to competing. It’s what we live for!” Thus, hopefully referring to his appearance at the Fortinet Championship along with Max Homa.
