Tiger Woods is probably the greatest golfer of all time. He was a child prodigy and got attention from his amateur days. Notably, he went on to win 82 PGA Tours and 15 major championships in his career so far. And fans still expect him to win at least one tournament in the future.
However, initially, nobody gave Tiger Woods a real chance. Most of the experts believed that he was not good enough to be consistent on the PGA Tour. But we all know what Tiger has achieved in his career and the things he has done for the game today.

Golf Magazine’s top teachers had predicted Tiger Woods’ performance in 1997
Tiger Woods made his debut as a pro on the PGA Tour in 1996. And after seeing him play for a while, Golf Magazine’s top teachers had given public statements, predicting his performance. Clearly, no one expected Tiger Woods to make it big on the PGA Tour.

Lou Stagner, a golf stats pro, made a tweet about the same. David Leadbetter had said that pressure will prevent Tiger from winning. And even though he is an excellent athlete, he’s a one-dimensional player.

Furthermore, Dick Harmon had said, “Tiger will win one tour event and do well to finish in the top 30. He’s not ready to handle the pressure of a major.” While Johnny Myers said, “Tiger is too aggressive, which is probably why he’s better at match play than medal play. He swings too fast. So I think he’ll finish out of the top 10 and go winless in the majors.”

Moreover, two months after these statements, Tiger won the Masters in 1997 by 12 shots at Augusta. And since then, we all know how Woods dominated the golfing world with his incredible performance. Currently, Tiger is recovering from a solo car crash that took place in February 2021. But he has made a good recovery, so hopefully, we will see him back on the tour once again soon.
