Wyndham Clark won the US Open Championship this season, and he had an extraordinary message for a very important woman in his life. Clark’s mother sadly passed away before witnessing her son win the title. And although it has been ten years since her passing, he still remembers her fondly.
To commemorate the love of the Late Lise Clark, the US Open winner dedicated his title to his mother. After all, her support during his early years is what enabled him to fight for his dream.

Back when he was in college, Wyndham Clark considered quitting golf as per CNN. It was something he shared with his mother who first introduced him to the sport. But he soon realized she would want to see him succeed. Soon enough, he won the US Open and he truly felt like his mother watched over him.
After a tearful acknowledgment to the leading lady in his heart, he dedicated his win to her. Now, that very title has earned him an exemption into the Open Championship, and once again, Clark shared a beautiful memory of his mother during his initial golfing days.
When asked during the presser if she passed on any pearls of wisdom or golfing skills to him, he shared a fond memory. “My mom knows nothing about golf,” he started. “She showed up one time, I was in high school and I was playing a tournament. I made like an eight-footer for I think triple bogey, and my mom started clapping like, ‘yeah, yay, Wyndham’.”
He had to explain to her that those were not good shots. He added, “She had no idea. She just was cheering because I made something and she thought that was good.”
His mother’s undying love and support encouraged him to do better. Now he thinks of her fondly, knowing she’s watching him play and pursue his dreams.

How Clark feels about his chances at this week’s major
Since his win at the US Open, Wyndham Clark has been on the radar of golfing fans. When reporters asked how he feels about his game currently, he said, “It’s good. Last week I hit it very good at the Scottish. Unfortunately, I didn’t make some putts, but we’re going to chalk that up to slow greens and just having two weeks off enjoying winning a major.”
He also added that he feels good and confident going into the Open Championship starting tomorrow. Since the US Open, he has been thinking about his shots, which according to him all golfers do. “Then I think about shots, I can’t believe I hit that shot or I can’t believe I pulled that off,” he said.
