It seems Lexi Thompson has found a perennial source of love and solidarity in the elder of the Korda sisters. After the LPGA Tour rewarded Thompson for her effort with the 2023 Founders Award, Jessica Korda left a three-word message for the LPGA star on her X (formerly Twitter) profile.
It was not the first time, though. Korda stood by her peer in the worst of times when the 11-time LPGA Tour winner was at the butt end of ridicule and criticism from the internet and the media. Korda came in support, berating the media for wrongly criticizing the Solheim Cup star. Standing true to her words, the six-time LPGA Tour winner proves her loyalty yet again this time.

LPGA earlier today announced that Lexi Thompson has won the 2023 Founders Prize. The award voted for and chosen by playing LPGA Tour members recognizes the talent who embodies the LPGA Tour spirit through not just their game but their work and deeds as well.
Thompson recently teed off at the Shriner Children’s Open, becoming the only seventh woman in history to tee it up against men on a professional PGA Tour. Despite missing the cut by an agonizingly short margin, the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship winner revealed that inspiring the children was her main aim rather than making the cut or winning the title. She was spotted signing autographs after every round.
Her inspiring journey must have played a part in deciding the winner of the award. And Jessica Korda couldn’t be happier. The soon-to-be mom took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate her peers, writing in all caps, “THE MOST DESERVING!!!!”. Interestingly, Thompson will also fill in Jessica Korda’s shoes in the Grant Thornton Invitational, as the former had to withdraw due to her pregnancy.

Korda was seemingly happy at her LPGA Tour peer’s achievement, as she mentioned earlier as well that Lexi Thompson was a “great player.” She stood by Thompson’s side when the latter was cornered by the media and the Internet alike in the aftermath of a press conference gone wrong.
Jessica Korda protects Thompson from scathing criticism
During the Friday four-ball round at this year’s Solheim Cup, Thompson was faced with a difficult chip shot at the final hole. Going all square, it could have earned half a point for Team USA. Unfortunately, she shanked it badly, prompting a flurry of questions from the media.

To make matters worse, during the press conference, Thompson got testy and refused to comment on that shot, drawing widespread criticism for her perceived rudeness. Korda, despite being 4000 miles away, came in support of the Solheim Cup star, writing, “So sad seeing golf media, yet again, shred Lexi. It’s easy writing about other people’s mistakes. It’s Golf, bad shots happen- give the girl a break. She grows the game more than anyone on tour… And she’s a great player!!”

This time, as well, it seems Jessica Korda is happier than Lexi Thompson for her achievement. A camaraderie to celebrate, indeed.
