Bryson DeChambeau managed to win the PGA Championship’s long drive contest at the Bellerive Country Club. The golfer hit the ball strong enough to make it reach 331 yards on the field. And along with his victory, DeChambeau received a gold money clip and $25,000 for donating to a charity of his preference.

Despite having ample charity options to donate the huge amount, DeChambeau chose to help Jarrod Lyle’s family. It was when the Australian golfer was under palliative care after his battle with leukemia. Lyle, unfortunately, passed away on Wednesday according to his wife’s statement.

In an interview with Golfweek, DeChambeau said, “There are a lot of people struggling in the world right now…but I just felt that what Jarrod has battled through is valiant and it’s a tough battle, obviously, and not everybody wins.” He added, “Hearing his story, three times, I believe those kids deserve a chance at a better life and they need that, so that’s why I decided to do that.”

It wasn’t a long time ago when DeChambeau met the golfer at an Australian Open. Fans often talk about DeChambeau’s controversies involving his feuds with several players.
