The South Korean golfer, Jenny Shin, is currently playing at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G. The 30-year-old is tied second with Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, and six others as of day one after a 65.
As the championship proceeds on the ‘Long John’s’ turf — it may be noted that two-time major winner John Daly resides in Arkansas — the LPGA player made an honest confession after her round. Was she hungover?

The NW Arkansas Championship is going on in full swing. The professional and amateurs alike are vying for a purse of $2.3 million. Jenny is making her 13th appearance at the event. The golfer turned professional in 2011 and got her LPGA card in the following year. She won her first-ever LPGA Tour win in 2016 at the Volunteers of Texas Shootout Presented by JTBC.
The ongoing championship is a three-day event. It may be noted that the tournament holds a Pro-Am challenge prior to the actual competition. Shin in a press conference after her first round was asked about her preparation for this event and the difference between a 72 and 54 format.
The golfer calmly replied and said, “…No, none of the process or any of that changes, I did have a few drinks with my pro-am group yesterday, so I was fully expecting myself to be a little bit hungover, but felt pretty good today.” The tournament is happening on “Bad Boy” John Daly’s turf, so is it a surprise that the LPGA golfer had a few drinks and was expecting to be hungover?
Additionally, she explained how much she is enjoying playing a three-day event. Showing her gratitude and love for the event, she said, “We have a really good crowd here. I think that’s a big bonus.”
Jenny Shin’s career in a slump
Jenny started playing golf at the age of 9. Before turning professional, she won the US Girls Junior Championship and the 2010 Future Tour at Concord. Playing the game for 20 years, Shin has yet to make a groundbreaking record. With a career in a slump for such a long time, Jenny Shin has always opened up about her mental health struggles.

After years of struggles on the golf course, Shin earlier this year accepted that it had been “tough to believe” in herself before going on to say: “I’m in a better place now mentally.” She is now comfortable with her game and hanging in there. The Arkansas event proves she is getting better and better on all counts.
