Brooks Koepka is a straight shooter. He has been candid about most things, except his LIV contract, his feud with Smash GC teammate Matthew Wolff, and his reason for leaving PGA Tour. So, when Jake Pual asked about the PGA Tour increasing their purses, the 33-year-old golfer didn’t hold back.
LIV has indeed brought about a momentous change in the world of golf. The PGA Tour had to adapt to the signs of the times to stop players from leaving for higher payouts in the Saudi-backed league. The 2023 PGA Championship winner was asked in the interview what he thought about it.

Brooks Keopka was the guest at BS W/ Jake Paul. While talking about the prospective LPG Tour-DP World Tour-LIV deal, Koepka was asked what he felt about the Tour’s increase in purses.
The PGA Tour has been consistently increasing purses for each event since LIV lured away a host of stars in 2022. Last year, it was a whopping $421 million, but this year, reportedly, it reached a staggering $460 million, along with some changes in the format as well.
“They raised their purses. It was a reaction to stop the guys from coming to LIV,” the 33-year-old golfer appears unsurprised. “That’s when I think everyone started to realize their value, what they’re worth.” But does this spell the future of golf?
The six-time Major winner appears to be positive about it, even if the competition persists. “Like competition drives the best in everybody, doesn’t matter where you’re at. So if that’s what it’s doing, then it’s a good thing,” concluded the American golfer.
When talking about dough, notably, Koepka recently won $4 million in the LIV Jeddah event as the winner. He raked in an additional $4 million by toppling Bryson DeChambeau in the third position for the overall individual standings! Currently, Koepka is battling at another big-money event in Miami.
Koepka has a chance to increase her 2023 season earnings
Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC will face off against Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC at Trump National Doral. A win at LIV Miami would mean Koepka could eye a win the next day and an eventual top-four finish on Sunday.
The $50 million season finale of this season has the largest purse of any LIV event. The champion team will earn $14 million in prize money from the winning purse, with $8.4 million going to the team and $1.5 million to each member of the team. Even the last team on the leaderboard will receive $1.25 million in team prizes.

With potential franchise involvement next year, LIV Golf’s purse is expected to go higher. The PGA Tour, however, has generated some investor interest; it remains to be seen how long they can keep with the Arabian horse in the money game.
