The two-time U.S. Open winner, Bryson DeChambeau opened up about his recent U.S. Open win during an interview with David Feherty on LIV Golf’s YouTube channel. When questioned about how it feels to the be 2024 US Open winner now that it has almost been a week, DeChambeau said, “I don’t think I’ve had the time to let it fully sink in”, talking about the profound impact his victory has had on him. The golfer was seen shedding a few tears in an interview after his LIV Golf Nashville round.

DeChambeau was seen with eyes full of tears thanking his fans.” I haven’t truly cried yet, I don’t want this to be the time I cry. I gotta say I’m humbled by all of it”, DeChambeau said, his voice heavy with emotion and gratitude. “There were a couple of tears that came out,” said the LIV star. Elaborating on his overwhelming feelings, the man of the people said “This was the most special moment of my entire life.”

The 30-year-old was captured by the surrealism of the moment that he handled very gracefully. “I never would’ve thought a year and a half ago, that things would be where they are right now” he continued. He shifted leagues in 2022, and ever since, things have not been that easy. He has been under consistent scrutiny and has been questioned about his decision.

With his last major win in 2020, this victory was a must in DeChambeau’s career. Winning a major is not only every golfer’s dream, but it also grants a five-year exemption to the other three majors that DeChambeau now has. His exemption with 2020 win would have finished next year. The golf scientist did come close to victories this year at Augusta and Valhalla with his T6 and T2 finish, but could not clinch it.

The final round was nothing short of stressful for the players. McIlroy, set to win his fifth major, lost the U.S. Open in the closing holes. Leading the game by two strokes with five holes remaining, McIlroy bogeyed three of the last four holes. This included a critical one-shot miss on the 18th, which changed the course of the game. DeChambeau’s win was sealed with an exceptional bunker shot on the 18th, where he saved par. He claimed the winning shot was “the best shot of his life.”

While talking about his win before the Nashville event commenced, DeChambeau choked a little while sharing that he has always wanted to do great things for golf. Having shown regret over his past actions, the golfer said that he is now really happy that he gets to show his true self to the people. To show people how great golf can be, he shared, “That’s why it was important for everyone to touch the trophy.” “It wasn’t just for me; it was for the turnaround,”  he continued, explaining that this win and the emotions behind it would make people see him differently.

That’s why I wanted everyone to feel that involvement, that appreciation from me, saying thank you.”  The golfer, with tears in his eyes, expressed that his victories are not just personal achievements but shared milestones with his fans.
