Tiger Woods had arguably the most fabulous junior career in golf history. By the time the pro golfer turned 11, he had won more than 30 junior events in Southern California. The glorious golfer also won three straight U.S. Junior Amateur championships between 1991 and 1993, a milestone no one else had ever accomplished. He was the youngest competitor in a PGA event at age 16. However, things have changed in junior golf, and the pro talked about it recently.

Woods had a car accident in February 2021 and suffered multiple fractures in his right leg. Thankfully, the leg was stabilized after doctors put in a rod. However, he has had surgeries since, but he is still in pain. Earlier this year, he returned to Augusta and played at Masters 14 months after his accident. Even though he did not win, seeing him was a great feeling for his fans.
What changes does Tiger Woods see in junior golfers?
According to the PGA tour winner, things in and around golf have changed significantly since he played junior golf. The fields are much more profound than before, giving an edge to every shot. However, he also appreciated today’s little golfers. Woods said, “There’s so many kids that can really hit the golf ball. Obviously, technology has changed. The club has gotten bigger.” The PGA pro gave credit to the technology too. There is better equipment to measure the swings and analyze every shot.

However, he was pleased to see kids doing great in the field nowadays. They are hitting low scores and securing their future. “It’s just amazing to see the depth of talent in the margin has gotten so much smaller than when we played.” According to him, nowadays, kids shoot numbers in the low 60s, and it is excellent. Because when he used to play, they did not easily see such scores.

Woods is currently preparing for the upcoming PNC Championship with his son Charlie. Lately, Jr. Woods has accompanied his pro father around the golf courses for practice. Fans are now looking forward to seeing Woods play with Rory McIlroy at ‘The Match’ against Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.
