The PGA Tour saw Tony Finau win the Houston Open and then head to Georgia for the RSM Classic. At the Sea Island Resort, Kevin Streelman, a PGA Tour veteran, had some advice for the younger golfers. He didn’t hold back when he explained to them that settling for anything other than a win would get them nowhere.

At the RSM Classic, the 44-year-old PGA Tour veteran had a message for all the younger players. He warned the players not to be cautious and not to think safely. He said, “You remember the wins or you remember the losses and when you were in the hunt.”

The two-time PGA Tour victor went on to explain that a decade later he didn’t remember the times he placed third. He said“I tell the kids like me, 420 events into my career, you don’t remember like the third places, the fifths.”

He explained that playing aggressively for the win wasn’t always easy either because of the rewards at stake and said, “It’s tough at times because we play for a lot of money and there’s a lot of FedEx points.” Kevin cautioned them, however, that in the end, only the victory would be remembered. He stated that as a player, that was all that mattered and that you simply had to go for it, regardless of the outcome.

Kevin’s performance on the PGA Tour

Streelman began on the PGA Tour in 2003. The American golfer has total career earnings of over $25 million. This puts him at the 69th place on the Tour’s earnings list. He understands that age is catching up to him and knows he can’t keep going forever. But he’s not ready to hang up his clubs just yet.

He said, “The great thing with our sport is that you can still have like a magic week. It can happen.” Earlier this year, Streelman battled against Trey Mullinax at the Barbasol Championship in July. He narrowly missed out on a victory by putting a par on the last hole, while Trey finished with a birdie.

The PGA Tour star claims that it’s his “go for it” strategy that has gotten him this far on the tour in the past 19 years. He lives by his word: “When you have a chance to do something great out here, you’ve got to go for it.” But with his age catching up to him, can Kevin’s strategy help him get at least another win on the Tour? Only time will tell.
