Glorious performance in the game doesn’t only offer prize money and a trophy. Instead, it is also accompanied by a sense of fame and popularity. Similar has been the case with Phil Mickelson. Ever since his debut, the American sensation has successfully positioned himself as one of the most prominent golfers in the sport’s history.

Considering the aura of Mickelson, it goes without saying that he has played a vital role in the success of numerous brands by just being its face. Going back in time, in 2010, a store of the donut giant, Krispy Kreme, also used Mickelson’s face to march towards success. However, unlike other brands, the store used his face without permission. An act that prompted Mickelson to almost take legal action.

Krispy Kreme escapes a law suit by Phil Mickelson

The year 2010 was clearly a successful one for Mickelson. After a wait of four years, the former World No.2 finally won his third Masters Tournament title at the Augusta National Golf Club. Celebrating the victory, he stopped by an outlet of Krispy Kreme to pamper his sweet tooth. Taking the donuts through the drive-thru, he headed towards his destination.

Being a prominent personality, it goes without saying that every new brand deal involving Mickelson makes it to the headlines. Walking on the same path, using the poster without a deal or permission clearly seemed to have pissed the golfer. “Phil’s camp was PISSED … because no one got the man’s approval before plastering his image all over the display,” a media house quoted.

Being an issue involving a breach of trust, the 45-time PGA Tour title winner further sent out his associates to the location. As per reports, the associates went to make sure the store removed all the posters. In addition to it, Mickelson also threatened legal action against the store in case of failure in complying.
