Schedule, venues, and prize money for Saudi Golf League

Probably the biggest announcements in golf came on Wednesday after the SGL announced its 2022 schedule. The rival tour will have a maximum of 48 players, with 12 teams of four professionals. The eight-event international series known as LIV Golf Invitational has a total prize money pool of 255 million. The first seven events will each have $20 million prize money purses, with $5 million set aside for the top three teams.

After the seventh event, the top three players will take home a chunk of $30 million. The eight-event and the last of the new tour will have prize money of almost $50 million for the team champion.

The LIV Golf Invitational will kick start its opening season at the Centurion Club, outside of London on June 9th. The big difference will be all the events will be three-round, with 54 holes and no cuts. The events will see a shotgun start. Four events of the SGL will be played in the USA, then an event at Stonehill Golf Club in Bangkok and the event in Saudi at Royal Greens Golf Club in Jeddah.

The venue for the eighth and the last event of the series is still not decided. Thus the first question stands asking, where would the eighth event be played? With huge prize money purses, it will be interesting to see the players featuring on the LIV Golf Invitational.

Who all will be playing on the SGL?

The second question inquiries the participants. Many professionals in the past have received huge offers. Phil Mickelson is a big name who has said that he is partnering with the SGL for leverage. And that he has also paid attorneys to draft the operating agreement for the rival golf tour. Phil is among the professionals who still have not commented on whether they are backing away from the SGL.

Bryson is another player who earlier had received a whopping amount of $135 million to become the face of the golf league. DeChambeaus’ statement also did not make it clear whether he is with SGL or out of it. And with him on a break for quite some time, the speculations are increasing with each passing day. Lee Westwood is another professional who has not commented on his stand on SGL. However, he did state that he has signed an NDA. Till now no professional has made his alliance with the Saudi-backed league.

Other big names like Tyrell Hatton, Ian Poulter, and Tommy Fleetwood are also reportedly weighing the offers.

How can we watch LIV Golf Invitational?

The third question inquires about the leagues’ broadcasting details. Up until now, no broadcasting partners have yet been announced by LIV Golf Investments. However, FOX News caught everyone’s eye when the former FOX News President David Hill was signed by LIV. Moreover, maybe in some time, we can expect LIV to announce their broadcasting partners.
