The WM Phoenix Open is cracking down on unruly behavior this year, introducing a “zero-tolerance” policy after a chaotic 2024 event that saw 54 arrests, 211 ejections, and 653 emergency calls. Tournament director Matt Mooney has warned that fans who “cross the line” will be removed, with a heavy police presence on site to enforce the rules. Fans will also be required to acknowledge a code of conduct before entering the event, in an effort to prevent “viral moments” that disrupt the tournament.

Despite the changes, the WM Phoenix Open is still expected to be an exciting event, with Nick Taylor defending his title from February 3-9. The iconic 16th hole footrace will still take place, and tournament organizers have worked to improve the fan experience, including a new entrance and digital ticketing platform. After speaking with players, Mooney said they “love this event” and want to preserve its unique atmosphere, so fans can expect the same energetic and entertaining tournament they’ve come to know and love.
