The 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Championship marks the exciting start of the PGA Tour Champions season, bringing together a stellar field of 42 players, including Bernhard Langer, Stewart Cink, Steve Alker, and Steve Stricker. Held at the picturesque Hualalai Golf Course in Ka’upulehu-Kona, Hawaii, this tournament offers a unique format with no 36-hole cut, allowing fans to see all competitors in action throughout the event.

As the season opener, it promises thrilling competition on a stunning Hawaiian backdrop. While the winner of the tournament will not be eligible for OWGR points, there are a lot of other things on the line. The money that will be earned will count towards the Charles Schwab Cup points. Every dollar will be converted into a season point to qualify for the 2025 playoffs. There’s of course good monetary compensation too.

The 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Championship is set with a total prize money of $2 million. The winner will be taking home $340,000, while the runner-up and the second runner-up will be entitled to $200,000 and $140,000, respectively. The player who finished in 42nd will take home $11,000. While there have been so many sponsor withdrawals from the PGA Tour events, as it turns out, the scenario is completely the opposite for the Mitsubishi Electric Championship.

Title sponsor for Mitsubishi Electric Championship extended through 2030

Mitsubishi Electric US and PGA TOUR Champions announced a five-year extension of their partnership. This agreement ensures the continuation of both the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai and the Mitsubishi Electric Classic through 2030. Additionally, Mitsubishi Electric will maintain its position as an official marketing partner of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions.

“PGA TOUR Champions is proud to continue building upon our wonderful partnership with Mitsubishi Electric, which dates back more than 15 years. The success of both tournaments is a testament to the shared values and vision between our organizations,” said PGA TOUR Champions President Miller Brady.

Everyone involved in our Tour looks forward to starting the season at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai each year—with exceptional hospitality at a breathtaking course providing the perfect start to the year—while the Mitsubishi Electric Classic at TPC Sugarloaf has proven to be a premier event on our schedule, showcasing top-tier competition and community engagement.”

Mitsubishi has been the title sponsor of the event since 2009 and also the title sponsor at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic since 2016. Its official partnership with the PGA Tour, inclusive of the Official Large Outdoor Video Display Provider, Official HVAC Products, and Official Elevators and Escalators, began in 2007. Now that the sponsorship is settled, the players can enjoy it without any worry.
