The 2025 Farmers Insurance Open has kickstarted, and it could not have been better. The tournament, which marks the third event of the 2025 season, has 156 players competing for the coveted title, and of course the trophy! This one has an unusual Saturday finish, thanks to the NFL programming schedule. This schedule change was brought into action in 2022 and has shown good results. Jason Day agrees that competing with NFL programming is tough, but he does believe that the schedule could have been more spread out so that it would have been easier for golfers.

The tournament has many big names like Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, and Collin Morikawa missing because of medical reasons, but that does not mean it lacks entertainment. Players like Ludvig Aberg, Danny Walker, and Zac Blair made the waves on the first day.

This year’s edition features a purse of $9.3 million, as compared to last year’s $9M. The winner this year is set to take home $1,674,000, following the PGA Tour’s standard 18 percent payout. The runner-up and the second runner-up will be taking home $1,013,700, and $641,700, respectively. Whichever player finishes 65 on the leaderboard gets the least portion of the share, with $19,995.
