Will the wind at El Cardonal be the ultimate game-changer in the 2024 WWT Championship?

The PGA Tour is once again struck by the wrath of nature. The 2024 World Wide Technology Championship kickstarted a few hours ago. While most of them finished teeing off, Austin Smotherman, Joe Highsmith, and Neal Shipley were yet to make it to the greens. Before they got their chance, the opening round was suspended due to darkness. According to the PGA Tour Communications, they will get back in position to complete their round at 7:30 am MT.

The second round, on the other hand, is scheduled to begin at 6:30 am MT. Currently, Tom Whitney, Rico Hoey, and Kevin Streelman are enjoying the lead with a score of 5-under. However, the competition is immensely close, because seven other players have finished at T4 just one stroke behind them. But the question is, what is in fate for the Friday round at the 2024 WWT Championship?

According to AccuWeather reports, the weather at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal golf course within the Diamante Cabo San Lucas resort will be Breezy and less humid with plenty of sun”. The temperature is predicted to go as high as 28 degrees and as low as 15 degrees. The wind will be blowing in from the NNW at the speed of 22 km/h, and the Max UV Index is also predicted to be moderate at 5.

The day seems to be pretty clear with no chances of rain or thunderstorms. Additionally, the cloud cover will also be 0%, omitting the darkness factor. But what might cause problems for the players is the occasional wind gusts blowing in at a whopping speed of 50 km/h. It might divert their balls from the direction of the hole, and they have to take extra care while putting. Otherwise, the round seems to be going uninterrupted.

In all probability, if you have your tickets booked for the second round, you will be in for a great display of action. However, if you cannot get hold of the tickets, you can still be a part of all the madness in the comfort of your house.
