Can the unpredictable weather at Seta Golf Course derail the top contenders' championship dreams?

The LPGA Tour has reached Japan for the 2024 TOTO Japan Classic. It is the final event of the fall Asian Swing and will be aligned with a star-studded field. Jin Young Ko, Ayaka Furue, and Haeran Ryu are the only players who will appear from the top 10 for the $2 million event. Last year, Mone Inami clinched the trophy on her home ground by defeating Seonwoo Bae by one stroke.

Will rain be a spoilsport at the 2024 Toto Japan Classic?

The 2024 TOTO Japan Classic is scheduled from October 31 to November 3. For the course, be prepared to witness varied weather throughout the four days. The opening round will witness “sun through high clouds.” The temperature is predicted to go as high as 23 degrees and as low as 16 degrees. There is only a 1% chance of rain and a 0% chance of thunderstorms. That looks good! 

However, one thing that might hinder the players, and is cloud cover, which is predicted to be 99%. There will be wind gusts blowing in too at intervals at the speed of 22 km/h. On Friday, the forecast says, Cloudy with occasional rain in the afternoon.” If you have tickets for the second round, do not forget your umbrellas. The temperature on Friday is predicted to be between 22 and 18 degrees.

While there is a 0% chance of thunderstorms, there is a 55% possibility of rainfall with a density of 0.5 mm for approximately half an hour. What will make it worse is the 100% cloud cover, making the course dark, and the wind gusts blowing in at the speed of 20 km/h. Will it get better for the final two rounds?

What will the weather be like during the weekend?

As the players enter the weekend, they will experience a storm followed by a calm. On Saturday, according to AccuWeather predictions, the weather will be “humid with rain, heavy at times.” The temperature is predicted to go as high as 21 degrees and as low as 16 degrees. There is a 90% probability of rain at a density of 26.7 mm. That is not all; it is predicted to rain for 10 hours, which will cause troubles like delays, suspensions, and whatnot. And the cloud cover too will be 100%.

Things will start to line up on Sunday. The reports say it will be “mostly cloudy and less humid.” While there will be still signs of the sun, there is only a 9% chance of rain. However, cloud cover will remain high at 82%, with wind gusts blowing in at 22 km/h. The temperature will range from 23 to 14 degrees.
