After a successful weekend in Malaysia, the LPGA Tour has now reached Japan for the first of its last four events before the 2024 season closes. The TOTO Japan Classic is the final event of the fall Asian swing. It is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 3 at the Seta Golf Course. Last year, Mone Inami defeated Seonwoo Bae by one stroke and clinched the trophy on her home ground.
She took home a whopping $300,000 from the $2 million purse. This year too, the total payout will remain the same, with the winner bagging the same amount. According to the official website of the LPGA Tour, among the start-studded field in Japan, there are only three players who will be competing from the top-10. Here’s the list of the highest-ranked players in the field of the 2024 TOTO Japan Classic.

Jin Young Ko is one of the three players from the top-10 list making it to the field in Japan on Thursday. This will be her debut season at the TOTO Japan Championship, and she looks forward to making it count. The 15X LPGA Tour Champion has made thirteen cuts out of the fifteen events that she appeared in this season, six of which she finished in the top 10. Her best finish was a T2 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, where she scored a 4-under. At the Maybank Championship last weekend, she failed to give her best and bagged the 67th position and plans to make a comeback in Japan this weekend.
Ayaka Furue
After finishing with a T5 in 2022, Ayaka Furue could not give her best at the 2023 TOTO Japan Classic. She tied for the 23rd position with Minami Hiruta, Fumika Kawagishi, and Ai Suzuki, seven strokes behind Mone Inami, the winner. This year, she is among the top-ranked players, ranked 8 on the Rolex Players list, and plans to make redemptions for last year. She has only missed one cut this season and has had ten top-10 finishes, out of which was her winning stroke at the Amundi Evian Championship in July.
Haeran Ryu

Have an interesting take?
Haeran Ryu is currently ranked ninth on the Rolex list of the best LPGA players. This will be her debut appearance at the event from the Asian Swing with great contention for the season. She has made twenty cuts this season and has finished in the top 10 twelve times. She also won her first event on the LPGA Tour, the FM Championship in August, where she defeated Jin Young Ko in the Sunday playoff. The Korean professional must be looking forward to grabbing her second win on the Tour this weekend.
Miyu Yamashita
Miyu Yamashita finished with a T27 at the 2023 TOTO Japan Classic with six other players. After scoring a 70 in the final round, she had an average score of 14-under. The player ranked 13 on the Rolex list is yet to grab her full-time LPGA Tour card. After playing in the Chevron Championship last in April, where she finished with a T17, will the Japanese pro be able to grab a win for this season?
Yuka Saso
Yuka Saso will be competing in her home ground this weekend. Last year, she dropped below the top 30 on the leaderboard at the championship, and this year, she is looking forward to claiming her spot on the top of the leaderboard on Sunday. The 2X LPGA Tour champion has already bagged a win at the US Women’s Open presented by Ally in May this season. She looks forward to clinching the trophy in front of her home audience at the 2024 TOTO Japan Classic.
