Will the weather finally cooperate, or is the Shriners Open doomed to be a washout?

The 2024 Shriners Children’s Open has fallen prey to the fury of nature over the first three rounds. Las Vegas, which is generally one of the most suitable venues for the PGA Tour events, has become the main antagonist. And that too during the fall! The opening round began on Thursday and was left incomplete due to inclement weather. The round was continued on Friday, and the second round was supposed to begin immediately. However, the round once again met with a delay of four hours due to wind gusts blowing in at the speed of 40 m/h.

And well, that was not all. Due to terrible weather conditions, TPC Summerlin was closed for the spectators. People who already had the passes were asked to use them on Saturday. But it turns out that the penultimate round was not very fruitful either. After completing the second round on Saturday, the top 66 players made the cut. However, only 36 players could tee off before the round got suspended. The official X account of PGA Tour Communications announced, The third round of the Shriners Children’s Open was suspended due to darkness at 6:08 p.m. PT.”

The remainder will resume in a few hours before the Sunday round at 8:00 am. Additionally, they also announced, “Final-round tee times will be approximately 10:00-11:50 a.m. in groups of three off two tees.” Currently, Doug Ghim and JT Poston are sharing the T1 position with a 15-under, running one stroke ahead of Kurt Kitayama, Gary Woodland, Harris English, and Alejandro Tosti.

The 2024 Shriners Children’s Open could finally get some sun

After three rounds of variable weather conditions, accompanied by gusty winds during the afternoon, it looks like Sunday might finally bring some luck for the players and the spectators. According to the AccuWeather reports, the weather will be “Partly Sunny.” The temperature will be as high as 25 degrees and as low as 14 degrees. Even the speed of wind gusts is predicted to be reduced to 22 km/h, which might cause comparatively fewer intrusions.

What’s your perspective on:

Will the weather finally cooperate, or is the Shriners Open doomed to be a washout?

Have an interesting take?

The wind will be blowing in from NNE at a minimal speed of 9 km/h. The best part is that cloud cover is predicted to be only 19%, making the visibility approximately 10 km, which is enough for the players to play an uninterrupted round. Also, there are no chances of rain and thunderstorms. It looks like the perfect opportunity for the professionals to put their best foot forward and make redemption on the final day.

Who do you think will ultimately claim the trophy after so many disruptions?
