Will Vince Whaley or Maverick McNealy seize the day at the RSM Classic's sunny finale?

The PGA Tour 2024 season is almost about to come to an end. With the RSM Classic concluding on Sunday, it has one more grand event, the Hero World Challenge, before the 2025 kick starts in January. The final round will begin in just a few hours on Sunday. Unlike most other PGA Tour events, the final event seems to be going pretty well, completely uninterrupted by the natural forces. After three rounds, two players are tied for the lead.

Vince Whaley and Maverick McNealy will enter the Sunday round at the Sea Island’s Seaside course with a two-stroke lead ahead of four players tied for the third position. But the question is, will the final round have a weather as pleasant as the other rounds?

According to the AccuWeather reports, the final round of the 2024 RSM Classic will have “plenty of suns; a nice end to the weekend.” That indeed is great news for the players. The temperature is predicted to be as high as 21 degrees and as low as 7 degrees. Even the Max UV Index is moderate at three.

Additionally, there is a 0% chance of thunderstorms, and cloud cover is also just 1%, clearing out any worry about the visibility issue. There is just a 1% chance of rain, which is close to nothing. The wind will be blowing in from the WSW at a speed of 11 km/h. Making the weather more tranquil will be the wind gusts blowing in intervals at a speed of 22 km/h.

Last year, the prize money was a whopping $8.4 million, and this year it has been reduced to $7.6 million. The winner will still take home $1.3 million. But well, that’s not all when it comes to the monetary aspect of the tournament. The event is beyond just paying out the winners.

The RSM Classic supports charities

First held in 2010, this event began as the McGladrey Classic before RSM took over sponsorship in 2015. Organized by the Davis Love Foundation in partnership with the PGA Tour, it has become a staple on the golf calendar. Hosted by Davis Love III, a former U.S. Ryder Cup captain, the tournament has raised an impressive $42 million for charities supporting children and adults in need over its 14-year history, reflecting its significant impact both on and off the course.

As it turns out, this year too is going forward to become a grand success. On November 20, the official page of the RSM Classic posted a picture of the organizers holding a check for a whopping $5,025,621 paid to the Power of Love Charities. In the caption, they wrote, “This amount takes us to over $48 million raised, and the tournament isn’t even over yet!! Thank you, @rsmusllp, for always supporting our charitable mission to positively impact children and families in need!” They are indeed doing a great job. Well, what really could be better than playing golf for social causes too?

Regardless, who do you think will win this year? Stay tuned to find out!
