Before we conclude this year’s golfing season, fans can witness their favorite stars for the last time teaming up to win the title of an exciting event. It is the Grant Thornton Invitational tournament featuring mixed teams participation from the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. Teeing off from December 13-15, 2024, fans will witness the best players teaming up in 16 teams. The two-player mixed team will compete in three formats for the grand purse of a whopping $4 million.

As a fan, it will be a great sight to witness your favorite players at the Tiburon Golf Club and The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburon. With equal opportunity and visibility for players, this will be a great stage to participate. However, major names participating in the tournament aren’t the only things to consider. As the brand’s ambassador list is also unique, having some of the greatest players in golf.

The brand ambassadors are helping to lead towards change on and off the course. At the top of the list, we have Korda sisters, i.e. Nelly Korda and Jessica Korda. Nelly Korda is currently the world no. 1. Along with them, there is another LPGA player, Mel Reid, who completes the list of LPGA Tour brand ambassadors.

From the PGA Tour, Tony Finau, an American golfer who is currently ranked in 26th position, is the brand ambassador. While talking about the tournament, he shared; “We share a vision for bringing more people to the game and are passionate about working to improve the communities that we live in.” Along with him, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Champ can also be seen as part of the list.

But, finally on the list is the co-host of ESPN’s Emmy award-winning show, ‘Pardon the Interruption’, Michael Wilbon. He is also an NBA reporter and analyst on ABC and ESPN. He shared his thoughts about the tournament by stating, “Co-ed sports as it was meant to be excites me. Having both the best women and men on location at the same time excites me.” Apart from the great game at the course which fans will witness, there is a lot of good work off-course in which the players will be participating equally.

Details about the Grant Thornton Invitational

The three-day tournament will offer a nine-hour pure golfing experience from the best of LPGA and PGA Tour players. 16-16 players from both Tours will participate as mixed teams for equal prize and visibility. This year will be the second edition of the tournament, which supports a variety of charities for which players will be an equal part of. The list of charity programs includes Grant Thornton’s Purple Paladins program, several historically black colleges and universities, Warriors of Collier County, Golisano Children’s Hospital, and CureSearch for Children’s Cancer.

viewers can also expect a unique format to follow this year. With each round, the golfers will have a new challenge as it will include Scramble, Foursomes, and Modified Four-ball. Last year, Lydia Ko and Jason Day secured first place. This year, can the same team defend their title, or will Nelly Korda and Tony Finau’s team take away their title?
