This week in the golf world, there’s $6 million at stake! Yes, that’s right, that’s the total purse of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, at Gary Player Country Club in South Africa. With a high field ranking of 99.68761, the event will crown its 2024 winner to join the likes of Max Homa who won last year.
A $200,000 bonus payout is also on the table to sweeten the deal. The event is also a Ryder Cup points gateway for the European players on the field. The winner will also win the golden ticket to the Rolex Series events and the Back 9 stage of the season.

The fight is undoubtedly going to be huge for the top spot. Many top golfers have flown to South Africa for the showdown. He is accompanied by fellow PGA Tour winners Will Zalatoris, Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, and Erik van Rooyen. Last year, Homa bagged the trophy, along with the million-dollar check with a huge 4-stroke lead. Now, he has returned to the greens of Gary Player Country Club to claim back his title. Although the 6-time PGA Tour champion didn’t win any title this year, he’s had an impressive run with four top 25 finishes, two top 10s, and one top 5 finish. He even had a T3 at the Masters in April!
For two months, though, the golf pro was not seen on the greens. But now is back in action, eager to shake off his recent struggles. “For me, it’s about getting ready for next season and putting in the work,” he emphasized. “I’ve been struggling with my driving all season, and this course demands accuracy off the tee.”
