The 2024 Simmons Bank Championship was an exciting event for many reasons. In the end, the top 35 players from the tournament went on to be a part of the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Being the final event of the season, the Arizona-based event has a lot of financial gains to offer for the legends of the game.

According to the PGA Tour website, all the pros will be fighting for a total prize money of $3 million. That’s $700,000 more than the penultimate event at the Pleasant Valley Country Club. The winner of the tournament will bag nearly $200,000 more in the final tournament with $528,000. That’s 17.6% of the total prize money, which is 2.6% more than the standard winner’s payout according to the PGA Tour Champions’ prize money distribution chart. Even the second-placed player gets a bigger share of the total purse with $300,000. That’s 10% of the prize money as compared the the standard payout of 8.8%. The trend carries on further down the list as well with the third-place finisher receiving a whooping $252,000, which is 8.4% of the purse value.

The last three ranks which can win more than $100k will earn $151,500, $120,000, and $105,000 for the 6th, 7th, and 8th positions respectively. The remaining $1,153,500 will be distributed among players ranked from 9th to 35th.

The defending champion is also being chased by two other favorites who are quite capable of turning things around and taking the lead on the board. One of them comes in the form of the 2022 winner, Padraig Harrington. The Irishman is just one stroke away from Alker at -3. Another legend who has a habit of winning tournaments is Ernie Els.
