Many may believe that the Butterfield Bermuda Championship was turning out to be a disaster. Initially, the opening round was delayed because of darkness. And then, the second round was extended onto Saturday as 11 golfers could not conclude their rounds. After two back-to-back delays, it was very much expected that the third round would not finish on time either. However, as the field was cut short to only 75 golfers, luckily, there was no suspension of the round. However, there was one disqualification and many other withdrawals.
So, will the fourth round progress without any hiccups as well? Well, not really. The final round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship will start at 7:43 a.m. on Port Royal Golf Course. At first, it will be mostly sunny, with temperatures between 69°F and 71°F, according to The Weather Channel. But the wind would not make the golfers easy. It will be blowing from WNW at the speed of 22mph and the gusts would be pretty bad so that the golfers may lose the direction of the ball.
As the day progresses, the wind situation would unfortunately not get better and the speed would increase to 25 mph. On top of that hurdle that the 75 golfers’ field may overcome, around late afternoon, the chance of rain will also be 15%. Overall, there is a little chance of the weather going extremely bad. And most times, the golfers and the fans at the Port Royal will be off the hook.

Hopefully, the final round at the Port Royal Golf Course will not be delayed to Monday. As was the case at the Cognizant Classic because the weather turned villain. While the weather remains uncertain for the final day, the wind may help crown the 2024 winner at Port Royal as one man’s enemy becomes another man’s hero.

One with the wind at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship
If you look at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship leaderboard, the two names tied for the lead are Andrew Novak and Rafael Campos, both pros shot 9 under 62 in the third round and are 16 under after three rounds. But these are not the two golfers who took the limelight on Saturday of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Have an interesting take?
It was instead Wesley Bryan, who finished solo fourth on the leaderboard. Bryan shot 67 in the opening round but on the second day, he faltered with a 1 over 72 scorecard. The event didn’t end there for Bryan as he picked himself up and shot six birdies and two eagles on the 17th and the 7th. He matched the course record of 10 under 61 and missed the 59 by only two missed birdies.

The one thing that assisted Bryan was surprisingly the wind. It was treacherous but helped him as he said, “I felt like these types of conditions really for my entire golfing career. I’ve really enjoyed the wind.” With this kind of momentum, Bryan has a chance to win on the PGA Tour after the 2017 RBC Heritage victory. He could also secure his 2025 PGA Tour card. This is coz if he wins the Butterfield Bermuda Championship his FedEx Fall rank would change from 128th to 112. And even a top finish can allow Bryan to move inside the top 125 for a full PGA Tour schedule in 2025.
The wind will be there to help Bryan. Hopefully, no rain to spoil it all as the Butterfield Bermuda Championship concludes.
