With the 2023 PGA Championship kicking off on May 18, many golfing heavyweights have opted to bow out of the PGA Tour event in Texas. However, 12 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking are among the top contenders. The likes of Scheffler, Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and Tom Hoge will definitely keep fans on the edge of their seats throughout the four-day-long event.
South Korea’s K.H. Lee is also returning to defend the title. If he emerges victorious this year, it will be his third consecutive win at the Byron Nelson. Last year’s runner-up and 3-time Major winner Jordan Spieth, withdrew from the event on Monday due to injury in his left wrist. The announcement has come as a shock to many who were rooting for the Dallas-born golfer to win the event.
Boasting a 156-players field, the event will get underway on Thursday, with tee times starting at 7:50 am. After the second round comes to an end on Friday, the field of 156 golfers will be cut down to 65, including ties. The remaining golfers will then compete for glory and an eye-watering winner’s payout.
