The Wyndham Championship began this week at the Sedgefield Country Club. World No. 1 Kevin Kisner won the event last year, and is back on the field to defend his title. A lot of other intriguing names are also part of the tournament this year, including Rickie Fowler and Harold Varner III. But how much is the purse for this year’s Wyndham Championship?

Purse and winner’s share for the 2022 Wyndham Championship
The field for the championship is headed by players like Sungjae Im, Will Zalatoris, Kevin Kisner, etc. Kisner won in a chaotic round last year birdieing the second playoff hole. Branden Grace and Kevin Na were also part of the event last year. However, the two have now joined the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour and are absent from the field this time.

The purse for the last regular tournament of the PGA Tour, the Wyndham Championship, is set to be $7.3 million. The winner will receive $1,314,000 as prize money from the event. Like other PGA Tour events, it is the standard 18 percent payout for the winner according to the prize money distribution chart by PGA.

The 36-hole event has a 156-player field size, out of which the top 65 players along with the ties will be making the cut. In simpler words, all players who manage to make it through four rounds won’t go home with empty pockets. As per the PGA Tour schedule, the Wyndham Championship is its 45th-sanctioned event.
Prize money payout and other benefits for the players
It is not just the prize money that the players will be earning in this event, especially the winner. The golfer who wins the tournament will receive 500 FedEx Cup points. He will also get 42 Official World Golf Ranking points. And it gets even better!

The winner will be given a two-plus season exemption on the PGA Tour, along with a fixed place in the 2023 Masters and 2023 PGA Championship, as well as the Sentry Tournament of Champions next year.
