Who is the defending champion at the 2022 Porsche European Open?
Marcus Armitage won the 2021 edition of the DP World Tour event at the same venue, Green Eagle Golf Courses. Moreover, the young professional ended the event with an overall score of eight-under-par. As a result, the British professional won the event with a comfortable two-shot lead after the final round on Sunday.
Marcus shot a final round of seven-under-par, 65 to finish on the top of the leaderboard. His final round included three birdies and one eagle on the opening nine holes. As a result, he moved out in five-under-par, 29. Armitage made three birdies and one bogey on the back nine to end his final round and to finish on the top of the leaderboard.
In the 2022 edition of the Porsche European Open, Armitage shot a gusty round of one-over-par, 73 at a challenging layout. He is currently at an overall score of one-under-par for the event as he heads into the third round on Saturday. The 34-year-old’s second round included one birdie and one bogey on the opening nine holes. As a result, Armitage moved out in level-par, 34. Winner’s payout at the 2022 Porsche European Open
This week’s event is the 14 of the 2022 DP World Tour season and includes big names like Tommy Fleetwood and Henrik Stenson. The field for the tournament consists of 156 players, and after the 36-hole cut comes into force today, only the top 65 and ties will move on to the weekend at the event. Also, the total prize money purse for the Porsche European Open stands at a whopping €1.75 million, and the winner takes home a share of €291,660, which is the standard 16.67 percent share, according to the Tour’s prize money distribution chart.

Apart from the prize money, the winner will also earn Race to Dubai points and Official World Golf Rankings Points. The winner of the event will claim 24 ranking points after the final round. At the same time, the event offers a whopping 2,750 Race to Dubai points for the entire field, with the winner getting 460 points. These points will help the players to win the standings after the season ends. On top of that, the champion of the event will also get a two-year exception on the DP World Tour and entires into other significant events.
