The 2022 Masters is officially underway, with some of the biggest names in the sport teeing it up. It is also the first major championship event of the calendar year and probably the most anticipated one. Moreover, with the event halfway through, let’s look at how much the event offers to the professionals.

Tiger Woods is back at Augusta

The 46-year-old professional is playing his first official event since the 2020 Masters held in November. Moreover, the 15-time major championship winner started the event with a solid round of one-under-par, 71. He carded a round of tow-over-par, 74 on a windy day at Augusta National Golf Club. Tiger is currently at a score of one-over-par for the tournament heading into Saturday for his third round.

With Tiger making his 22nd consecutive cut at the Masters on Friday, fans will see more of the 82-time PGA Tour winner heading into the week, and maybe with a low on Saturday, he might as well be able to be in contention heading into the final round on Sunday at the 2022 Masters.

Winner’s payout at the 2022 Masters

Augusta National is yet to announce the prize money purse and breakdown for the 86th Masters. However, it was expected that they will come out with the same by Saturday. Moreover, with the prize money now released there is a huge increase in the total prize money purse for the 2022 Masters.

The Masters offered a total prize money purse worth $11.5 million in 2021. The winner of the past three editions of the Masters has taken a prize money share worth $2,070,000. However, this year, the total prize money purse has got a $3.5 million increase and now sits at a whopping $15million. The winner of the 2022 Masters will take home $2.7 million on Sunday. The runner-up of the event will take $1.62 million. Moreover, this will be the first Masters in which the professional in the third position will get a seven-figure paycheque.
