The 2022 Kroger Queen City Championship is due to be played this weekend, with the host for the event being the 7,100-yardage Kenwood Country Club located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The tournament is the event’s first edition and will look to make a grand entrance to the LPGA Tour.

Top names missing from the 2022 Kroger Queen City Championship

While a strong contingent of 144 players will be teeing off for silverware in Ohio, two of its top-ranked players will be missing in action. World No.1, Jin Young Ko and American golfer, Nelly Korda are due to skip the event. Also missing among other major players will be Lydia Ko and In Gee Chun, both of whom rank in the Top 10 of the LPGA standings.

However, the rooster will have enough firepower to catch the eye – the likes of Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, Atthaya Thitikul, Danielle Kang, and Lexi Thompson are certain to keep the competition elevated at the event.

Total Purse and winner’s share for the 2022 Kroger Queen City Championship

The total purse at the inaugural Kroger Queen City Championship is set at $1.75 million. It is the 25th event of the 2022 LPGA Tour season event with a regular 72-hole event and a cut after 36 holes.

The winner’s share at the Championship is a whopping $352,500, which is in line with the standard 15% payout according to the LPGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart. The victor will also be awarded 500 points toward the Race to the CME Globe, with the Top 60 players at the season-end of the Pelican Women’s Championship participating in the CME Group Tour Championship. The champion of the season-ending tournament will win the Race to the CME Globe and a $1.5 million first-place prize.

Apart from the benefits mentioned above, there is more in store for the winner. The 2022 Kroger Queen City Championship will also receive a two-year exemption on the LPGA Tour, as well as berths into other major tournaments in the following years.
