The LPGA Tour is currently in California for the exciting Chevron Championship 2022. A major tournament in women’s professional golf, fans and players are always eager to follow the championship. Interestingly, this year’s edition might just be a little too special.
With Chevron partnering with the event, this cherished event will move to Texas from the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. Popular LPGA players have spoken about the venue change, admitting that it will be a bittersweet moment for players.

“The biggest thing about this event is Poppie’s Pond,” mentioned Lydia Ko. The winners jump into the concrete-lined pond surrounding the 18th, making it a tradition. The name is also meant to honor former tournament director Terry Wilcox, who is called Poppie by the grandchildren.
Which course is the Chevron Championship played on?
The venue itself has three courses, where the Dinah Shore Tournament Course is used for the championship. Arnold Palmer Signature Course, Arnold Palmer Signature Course and the Pete Dye Challenge Course are other courses present at the golf club.
Along with golf, the venue also offers extensive fitness facilities, dining, and villas to stay in.
Additionally, Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit won the last edition of the tournament, which was first introduced in 1972.
What’s the winner’s payout at the 2022 LPGA Chevron Championship
This year, the total prize pool offered at the Chevron Championship will be $5 million. With increasing purses at LPGA events, the prize amount for this event was increased from a total of $3.1 million. “The purses are super important so we can have the best tournament schedule that we can put together and allow the best women in the world to reach their goals,” said Mollie Marcoux, LPGA’s commissioner.
The winner, with this pool, will take home $750,000. Six hundred Race to the CME Globe points, a five-year LPGA Tour exemption, and several tournament berths will also be offered to the winner.
