2022 Honda Classic starts in just a few days. Notably, it will be the eighth event of the 2022 PGA Tour season. With a strong field this week, it will be really interesting to see who will emerge as the winner of the 2022 Honda Classic.

The Honda Classic will begin on February 24th and will conclude on February 27th. The event will take place at the PGA National Resort and Spa, the Champion Course. With the star-studded line-up, these are the top five contenders.
- At number five is Tommy Fleetwood. The British professional is still in search of his first win on the PGA Tour. In the past, he has finished strongly at the PGA National Resort and Spa; Those include a fourth-place finish in 2018, as well as a third-place finish in 2020.

- The top contender this week at the event is Sungjae Im. He is a past champion of the event, with his win back in 2020. The professional from South Korea is currently in the second position in scrambling with a win at Shriners.
The field at the Honda Classic and the prize money purse
The field this week at the Honda Classic includes two South Florida Locals with Brooks Koepka as well as Daniel Berger teeing it up. However, only 12 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings will tee it up at the event. Nicolai Hojgaard makes his way into the event with the help of a sponsors exemption. The total field this week includes 144 professionals.
The total prize-money purse this week at the event is a whopping $8 million. It is $1 million more than last year. The winner of the event will take home $1.4 million.

Defending champions at 2022 Honda Classic
Matt Jones is the defending champion at the 2022 Honda Classic. He won the event in 2021 with an overall score of 12-under-par. As a result, winning the event with a five strokes lead. With a tied 15th finish last week at Genesis Invitational, Jones will look to go back to back at the event.
