The 2022 Farmers Insurance Open started with its first round on Wednesday, 26th January. The event is part of the PGA Tour’s early-season ” West Coast Swing”. The Farmers Insurance Open is taking place at the beautiful Torrey Pines North and South Golf Course.

The total field includes 156 golfers, however, only the top 65 and ties will make it to the final two rounds.

Cutline predictions at Farmers Insurance Open

The first round of the event was quite an enthralling one with several of the big names playing well. The World Number One Jon Rahm was on fire and is currently at the tied fifth position at six-under-par. The scoring conditions at the North Course were -2.9 strokes per round and on the South Course, it was +0.78. With 22 professionals just four shots back from the lead it will be an interesting second round.

The tournament leader after the first round on Wednesday is Billy Horschel. The American professional carded the lowest round of the day, a round of 63, nine under par and sits on the top of the leaderboard.

75 golfing professionals are sitting at a score of 2 under par or better, it will be enthralling to see what will be the cut after the end of 36 holes on Thursday. According to data golf, the top three predictive cuts are four under par, three under par, and two under par.

Not to forget, the South Course is long with narrow fairways and deep roughs. With the multi-tiered greens and cruel bunkers, the South Course will pose a tough challenge to the professionals. Thus, the probability that the cut will stand at three-under-par is 40.6% followed by four under par with 25.1% of chance and two under par with 23% chance.

Billy Horschel’s 63

The 35 years old golfing professional looked in beautiful touch at the first round of  Farmers Insurance Open. Billy shot five birdies in the opening nine holes and four birdies in the back nine without any bogeys. He finished with a score of nine-under-par.
