The BMW PGA Championship has been in controversy for some time ever since LIV Golf players were allowed to play. Golfers are giving their all to win the tournament. The field has turned into a battle between players from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. However, fans are excited to see which of their favorite players will take home the title for the BMW PGA championship this year. But how much is the total purse for the tournament?

Which top players are competing at this year’s BMW PGA Championship?

The DP World tour has made its way back into the fans’ favorite leagues with the BMW PGA Championship. The event is going on at Wentworth, England, and will be played till 11th September 2022. The field is full of well-known players from both competing tours. The latest FedEx Cup champion, Rory McIlroy, is playing his best shots at the tournament this year. The Irish professional golfer is hoping to win the event after becoming a candidate for the PGA Tour Player of the Year category.

Next on the field is Former World No.1, Jon Rahm, followed by US Open champion, Matt Fitzpatrick. Both European golfers will appear in the event alongside Norwegian pro-golfer, Viktor Hovland. The field includes 13 players from the world’s 50 highest-ranked players according to the OWGR.

The only differentiation that the LIV golf players faced at the BMW PGA Championship were that they weren’t allowed to play at the Pro-Am. In reaction to the ongoing conditions, a fellow golfer from the LIV Golf tour, Martin Kaymer, withdrew from the tournament. He said, “I don’t need to go to a place where, feel-wise, you’re not that welcome.”

Total purse and prize money for the tournament

The total purse for the 2022 BMW PGA Championship is set at $8 million. And the winner’s share out of the total amount will be $1,333,330. But that is not all for the players at this year’s tournament! The winner will receive almost 38 Official World Golf Ranking points. Along with that, the winner will also get a European Tour exemption for more than two years. Here is the individual prize money for the ones who will make the cut this year:
