The Ascension Charity Classic 2022 is an official PGA TOUR Champions event owned and operated by Tournaments for Charity. This annual 54-hole stroke plays golf tournament features 78 players.

The professionals will compete for a huge prize money purse at the renowned Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri. The event showcases the best golf on PGA Tour Champions while benefiting local charities in the greater St. Louis area. All three official tournament rounds will be internationally televised on the Golf Channel.

The players participating in The Ascension Charity Classic 2022

The field at next week’s Ascension Charity Classic will be stacked with some of the biggest names in golf. Fourteen set PGA Tour major championship winners and four World Golf Hall of Fame members will be competing in the tournament, including Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, and José María Olazábal.

Eight of the top-10 players in the Charles Schwab Cup ranking will be in attendance, including four of the top-5: Steven Alker (No.1), Padraig Harrington (No.2), Jerry Kelly (No.3), and last week’s winner on PGA Tour Champions, Steve Stricker (No. 5). This will be Stricker and Harrington’s first starts at the Ascension Charity Classic.

The world-class field at the upcoming Ascension Charity Classic includes current Senior Open Championship winner, Darren Clarke, PGA Tour Champions reigning Rookie of the Year, Jim Furyk, defending Ascension Charity Classic champion, David Toms, Masters winner, Mike Weir, fan favorite John Daly, and Ascension Ambassadors St. Louis native, Jay Williamson, PGA Tour Champions rookies, Justin Leonard and David Duval, and 2022 Payne Stewart Award winner, Billy Andrade.

The prize money payout

The 2022 Ascension Charity Classic purse has been set at $2 million, with the winner’s share coming in at $300,000, which is more than the standard 15 percent payout according to the PGA Tour Champions’ prize money distribution chart. This week’s tournament winner will not only earn money but also important points, perks, and benefits that will help them qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs in 2022.

The money earned this week will count towards the Charles Schwab Cup points list, and each dollar earned will translate into a regular season point. The top 72 players will get into the first leg of the playoffs, so it’s important to do well this week in order to have a chance at qualifying.
