Additionally, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and European Tour will be taking the event to Yas Links Abu Dhabi for the first time. The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship will also be the opening Rolex Series event for the year, making the whole situation extra special.
A little history
The event was originally hosted in 2006 and was previously played at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club for 16 years. Though this new event brings along a new challenge for the event, it will certainly remain one of the most popular ones in the Middle East. Of course, it is always an honor for a course to host the European Tour’s Rolex Series.

The venue itself is as luxurious as it can get, described as a place to “enrich your game and your senses“. Designed by Kyle Phillips, the place has been ranked No. 48 in the world, letting golfers enjoy the magnificent views of the Arabian Gulf. It is also the first Links course in the Middle East.
The venue also offers those visiting a clubhouse, gym, swimming pool, spa, practice ranges, and also restaurants. It was opened in March 2010 – also hosted the golf event during the 2019 Special Olympics World.
Having said that, Tyrell Hatton won the event in 2021. In 2022, Thomas Pieters claimed his maiden Rolex Series victory.

Winner’s payout at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship 2022
The prize pool for this event is a whopping $8 million. The winner will be taking home $1,333,33. Moreover, the winner will win 1335 Race to Dubai points, along with 46 Official World Golf Ranking Points. They will also take home a two-plus season exemption on the European Tour, and berths to other European Tour events.
