The two players reportedly first interacted in person in 1989, when Woods was 13 years old. The flashback image posted below was taken at the National Insurance Youth Golf Classic at Texarkana Country Club. A fan confirmed the venue in the comment. But it appears that the picture was clicked in 1987. When Daly first met Woods, he had a hunch that the adolescent would achieve great fame.

The 56-year-old golfer, Daly, also shared a story of their meeting where Woods freaked out. He narrated the story and said, “The ball came unwound. I think that kind of freaked [Tiger] out. He thought it was the coolest thing he’d ever seen in golf; that’s what he told his mom and dad.” However, the senior PGA pro later replaced the ball and beat a 13-year-old Woods by two shots.
