Tiger Woods doesn’t have a lot of friends on the field of golf. However, he shares a natural bond with basketball legend, Michael Jordan. The two have spent ample time on the course playing golf together. However, according to the NBA star, Woods didn’t get anywhere near a basketball court. And Jordan once revealed the hilarious reason behind it as well.

Why did Tiger Woods avoid playing basketball?

Tiger Woods is probably the greatest golfer to have ever performed professionally. No other players have been able to match most of his records yet. However, despite having interests in multiple sports, the 15x major winner never preferred playing basketball with his closest friend.

Michael Jordan and Woods have shared a beautiful friendship ever since they first met. The golfer once revealed how a Nike deal got him the opportunity to get close to Jordan. However, as their bond bloomed, the two started to spend hours together playing golf! But as per the former NBA legend, Woods never showed up whenever he was asked to play basketball with his best friend.

In an interview shared on Basketball Network, Jordan explained how terrified Woods was of him on the court. “He’s scared. I’ll knock his brains out,” the basketball great said. “I’m in a contact sport. He can’t hit me on the golf course. Basketball, I’d knock him out. But I could see his talents. That goes without question. He’s a good kid.”

Well, it’s not hard to believe. No matter how competitive Woods is on the field, he is a peaceful man. While a game like a basketball, which is highly physical, requires players to have direct contact during the game. Moreover, most basketball players have extraordinary height. And Jordan is around 5 inches taller than Woods, making it even harder to compete in a physical sport.
