Ever since Nelly Korda started her professional journey, the young golfer seems to have made it her mission to impress and charm everyone. Not only is she exceptionally talented as a player, but she’s loved for her off-court demeanour as well. Having said that, Korda seems to have a special fan with her at the Pelican Women’s Championship.

The LPGA Tour is currently at the Pelican Golf Club in Florida, hosting the Pelican Women’s Championship’s second edition. Let’s take a look at what Korda’s new fan, Christina Kim, had to say about her.

Christina Kim is in awe of Nelly Korda

After their first-ever competitive round together, all Kim could do was gush about Korda. “I’m a little sad that I’m not going to be paired with Nelly because can we talk about her for a minute?” Kim said, her animated style and excitement visible. “This was my first time playing in a competitive round with her period, let alone since she’s turned No. 1 in the World. I don’t care who’s out there, I might be her biggest fan.”

The 37-year-old’s words are enough to tell that the affection is absolutely genuine. And that the veteran is completely wowed by Korda. She even added that Korda is an amazing person. Kim explained how the 23-year-old was patient with her, as she wanted to talk to the younger LPGA star.

“She’s got a beautiful laugh, a beautiful smile. Just a really, really warm heart. So I was just like – Girl crush! I’m absolutely just in awe of her”.

Kim went on to add that she almost teared up knowing that the future generation was in Korda’s hands, safe. “I almost swore“.

The three-time LPGA Tour winner also praised Korda on Twitter. She once again spoke about being the World No. 1’s biggest fan, ready to fight anyone who tries saying otherwise. Today was my first time playing with @NellyKorda,” Kim wrote. and I ain’t fronting when I say I’m her biggest fan, cemented after today. I don’t know who you think you are, but it’s me, not you. I’ll fight you.”

Kim herself had her rookie year in 2003, while Korda entered professional golf in 2016. The former belongs to a completely different generation of female golfers, who have helped make LPGA what it is today. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist is certainly someone who has helped popularize female golf.

Korda is currently leading at the Pelican Women’s Championship, while Kim is placed T4.
