The 2024 season has been a roller coaster ride for the golf world. With the chaos in the $8 billion, ending to a ray of hope for the fans, and the updated changes that have been made in the leagues, it might have been a pretty disastrous one. but the players have made it all memorable by breaking several records. From Lydia Ko being inducted to the Hall of Fame, to Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler relentlessly staying on the top spot throughout the year, it has been a great game to witness. Here are the top 3 moments from the 2024 golf season, which will remain etched in the hearts of the community.

Scottie Scheffler’s historic win at the Olympics

The World No. 1 has had an exceptional season this year, one of the best so far. He not only managed to bag seven PGA Tour victories but also made America proud by bagging the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in August. He scored a course-record-tying 62 at Le Golf National, but that was not what stood out. He entered the final round of four shots behind leaders Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele. Despite carding a solid three-under on the front nine, he found himself seven shots back after Rahm surged to a 20-under lead midway through the round. However, his momentum stalled as he struggled on the back nine, finishing with four bogeys and a double. However, six birdies in the back nine, which included four consecutive ones, was what everyone went gaga.

Even he got emotional and broke down into tears as he stood at the medal stand. “Mostly we were just trying to stay patient,” Scheffler said in that familiar tone that makes it sound like he’s taking out the garbage when what he’s really doing is landing a fighter jet on an aircraft carrier in a typhoon. “When I saw that Rahm had gotten to 20, I kind of changed a little bit mentally to just really try to do my best to move my way up the leaderboard. I didn’t even really know if I was in contention or not. I was just trying to do my best to make some birdies and start moving up and maybe get a medal or something like that. And I was fortunate to execute some shots there down the stretch.”

Nelly Korda closed with an eagle-birdie finish on the final two holes at Bradenton Country Club to tie Lydia Ko at 11-under in regulation at the LPGA Drive On Championship. The two then went to a two-hole playoff, where Korda triumphed over Ko in her hometown of Bradenton, Fla., securing her ninth career LPGA Tour victory. It was Korda’s first win since claiming the 2022 ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican in Belleair, Florida. The Rolex World No. 1 player ended up grabbing a whopping $262,500 after scoring three rounds of sixties and a 74 in the final round. This was the beginning of the amazing career that she began this year and was the first victory of the five consecutive victories that she had in the first four months.

Bryson DeChambeau’s epic win at the 2024 US Open

Four years later, Bryson DeChambeau finally managed to bag his second Major victory, and how! He scored a 71 in the final round, which aggregated his score to a 6-under, and the LIV Golfer ended up defeating Rory McIlroy by a sneaky one-stroke. Well, all thanks to the bunker shot on the eighteenth hole that he carded from 55 yards. He knocked the ball four feet for the par putt. That was what gave him the extra shot he needed, saving him from going through a playoff. The bunker shot was truly remarkable, with statistician Lou Stagner pointing out on Sunday night that tour pros only manage to get that close from that distance just 1.7% of the time—an even more impressive feat considering it came on the final hole of the U.S. Open.
