However, the partnership between the Asian Tour and LIV Golf could be the ideal move, but the news of Greg Norman stepping down as the CEO has made it worse for the country’s golf. Even for the 2025 season, Australia is not on the list because Golf Australian and PGA of Australia have many partnerships to grow the sport. The big mergers could change the golfing realm and could be a step closer to Greg Norman’s plan.
As in the recent news, DP World Tour and LIV Golf have been in discussion of a merger. Even the long-awaited PGA Tour, DPWT and LIV Golf merger could show progress this year as President Donald Trump will take charge of it. Greg Norman, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, was named CEO and commissioner of LIV Golf in November 2021. Now with over 3 years, the Shark has led the organization as one of the biggest competitors for the PGA Tour. But with the news of him stepping down from the position, it is a shock to the community as to who will take charge and take the league to where it is heading.
Fortunately, the next CEO as per the reports of Sports Illustrated is Scott O’Neil. He is a former NBA and NHL executive and CEO of Harris Blitzers Sports and Entertainment. Norman’s contract will be ending in January 2025, but there is still no official confirmation from LIV Golf. It would be a tough choice to make for them.
