American teenager Coco Gauff has done wonders for herself in the sport. At the age of 17 years, she has registered some impressive performances against the top players in the game. With time, the youngster will only get better, and on seeing her results in the recent past, one can sense the improvement in her game.

Recently, journalists Ubaldo Scanagatta and Steve Flink spoke about Coco Gauff’s recent performances at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. They focused on her loss to German star Angelique Kerber. After seeing her performances, they felt that the American youngster can be a threat at the US Open this season.

While speaking on Gauff, they stated, “I think Coco is learning and still improving but Kerber is probably different than she’s faced all year long with the lefty game and not a lot of paces all the time and keeping her shots very low on the grass and not a big serve but a well-placed serve.”

Angelique Kerber stronger than Coco Gauff on grass

They felt that Kerber had a much better game on grass than Gauff. The consistency in her shot-making along with understanding the dynamics of the grass-court was superior. However, they maintain that it’s a learning experience and she will only get better with time.

The journalists further added, “She’s a very smart player and I think that Coco will probably learn from this. It wasn’t a terrible performance by Coco but I think when she gets back on the hard courts this summer, we’re going to see some better results from her and I think she is going to be a much bigger threat at the US Open.”

It will be interesting to see how the youngster performs during the US Open Series. She will surely be cheered upon as she will be playing in front of her home crowds.
