?Actually I got congratulated by Roger [Federer] after my match, which was amazing. I think now I’m good in my tennis career. He was very nice. He took the time to say congrats. That inspires me a lot and gives me the hunger to win more,” Ons Jabeur said.

Jabeur overcame Swiatek with great tenacity. She was always ahead of the Polish player, despite being the underdog in the clash. Ons once served for the first set, however, Swiatek broke her and eventually took the set, 7-5. The only complaint that many had of Ons Jabeur was her failure to hold her nerves. But she shut all her doubters by sweeping past Iga Swiatek in the second and third set.

The first set lasted 49 minutes. Whereas the next two sets lasted a combined 54 minutes. After losing four games in a row from 5-3 in the first set. Jabeur came back splendidly. She broke Swiatek twice to take a 4-0 lead in the second set. Despite giving a few points, Jabeur quickly was able to cover any hurdle and frustrated Swiatek. In the end, she took the second set, 6-1, and leveled the match.

From there on, Jabeur received little resistance from Swiatek as she breezed past her. Swiatek’s winners failed and Jabeur was perfect and hence she picked the third set as well, 6-1. The scorecard read: 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Jabeur will now face Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinal.

Apart from Federer, Andy Murray’s mother and acclaimed tennis coach, Judy Murray was in awe of Jabeur’s performance. She tweeted: “ONS JABEUR. Incredible player. So fun to watch and breaking down barriers in tennis on a weekly basis.”
