The Dallas Mavericks missed out on showing off their In-season tournament court. Other arenas featured extraordinary colorways making the court look more attractive to play on as well as appealing to the online audience. However, due to manufacturing issues, the Mavs had to continue to play on their core court. Nevertheless, this year, Dallas will be featuring its first-ever In-season tournament court. Not to mention, the hardwood looks pretty attractive for the second edition of Adam Silver’s project.
Now, regardless of the royal blue, gold, and white colorway, fans don’t seem to like the court. Well, on the bright side, the Mavs are finally featuring an In-season tournament court. But at what cost? The fans have pointed out several mistakes in the design, including the font and the colorway. “that logo is so hidesously bad it makes me cringe. god forbid new ownership rebrand next season or the one after. this is gettin sad”, one of the fans mentioned.

Though does this only bother Dallas fans? The surprising answer would be no. In fact, with the recent RSN controversy, this has become a bigger issue. Adam Silver’s newest innovation was initially meant to make the regular season more competitive. In turn, the league expects more viewership and engagement. But with the new media deals, many have accused the league of ruining the RSN model. In fact, James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks stated that the new media rights worth over $76 billion may be responsible for ruining the RSN model.
There is no doubt that signing with streaming platforms will ruin the cable business. In defense of his new media deals, Silver mentioned that 18 of the league’s RSNs had gone bankrupt. Nevertheless, the commissioner is determined to bring the league onto mainstream platforms, similar to how the NFL chose to stream on DAZN. Now, if the league is looking to expand the engagement, they’ll have to take care of their Emirates Cup with no stones unturned. And with the recent comments on the Mavs’ In-season tournament court, the reviews don’t seem to be 100% top-notch.

Last year, the manufacturing issues included a disturbed three-point line. Grant Williams, who at the time played for the Mavs noticed the disturbed measurement during shoot around. Moreover, Dallas’ In-season court did not meet the league’s standards this past season. This year, fans are hoping that the court has perfect measurements. “Have we checked the 3 point lines yet?” one of the fans questioned.

On the other hand, some still doubt whether the Mavs will play on this anticipated design as one of the X users commented, “But are we going to actually see them play on it.” The league will make sure that each team has a dedicated court to play on this Emirates Cup, especially the Mavs.
Another fan complained about the design as well as the colors saying, “This is so dirty lol the trophy at mid court and altered ft line should be enough, they do not need to make the entire court a different color.” The royal blue colorway matched the Mavs’ logo along with the theme, however, the fans didn’t seem happy. It is important to know that this might not be the final design and that the franchise might look to change the design.
It will be interesting to see the Mavs finally rock the new In-season tournament court as the regular season approaches. The Mavs are also one of the favorites to make it out of the West, making it a crucial upcoming year for them. What are your thoughts on the Mavericks’ court?
