Garbine Muguruza Withdraws From Cincinnati
Since most players haven’t played for several months due to the pandemic, chances of injuries are high. This is exactly what happened to Garbine Muguruza. In a recent tweet, she said,
“Following the recommendation of my medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the Western and Southern Open due to discomfort in my left ankle. I hope I will be able to keep improving and have the opportunity to compete at the US Open. I really want to get back on the Tour and do it in New York, I know that both the WTA and the USTA are making a great effort to make it possible for us to play again and I will work hard so that I can be there in a few days.”

Everyone will miss Garbine at the Western and Southern Open. But, they will be happy that she has not withdrawn from the US Open. The participation at the Grand Slam is already not looking good as so many players have pulled out. One of these players was Rafael Nadal who felt that the situation with the coronavirus was still very complicated.
