The world is divided between players who prefer a Gaming PC and those who prefer a console. Those who have had the experience of operating both the devices know how baffling it is to decide.

Both devices have their pros and cons, but the ultimate choice is subjective and depends on a variety of aspects. One of them is your budget, and the other is convenience and preference.

It’s difficult to make a move to PC after spending years on a console. In the same way, it is enigmatic to use a keyboard and a mouse after practicing on a controller.

A battle of preferences

Budget

Before deciding on a device, it’s very important for us to consider how much we can afford to spend on a gaming device.

However, if you are purchasing a console, it will limit your costs to the console, games, and possibly an additional controller. If you prefer a PC, though, you must shell out a lot more. In a sense, it depends on if you are an enthusiast or not.

Low range PC will not deliver advanced graphics. The games that have been rolling out recently make optimum use of advanced technology. So, you might need to spend more on improving your hardware, and that will work as a recurring cost. For instance, you might spend more frequently to get your RAM enhanced or get a better graphics card.

Consoles are more cost-effective in the long run. PlayStation 4 was launched in 2013 and it still works like a charm, regardless of how heavy the game file is or how enhanced its graphics are. You need not worry about the hardware at all.

Gaming consoles don’t require you to check your specifications

If you own a PC, you have to check your rig’s specifications before purchasing a game. It’s laborious to update your hardware every 2-3 years.

Gaming consoles are easy to set up and easy to use. Just insert the disc or purchase a digital copy and you are good to go as long as you maintain your console.

Assembling a gaming device

The console requires a TV or an additional monitor. However, you won’t be hogging the TV if you own a PC.

And it’s more satisfying to assemble your own PC. You pick and choose the components you want. For better graphics and enhanced gameplay, these parts have to be compatible.

There is yet another important thing to remember. PC users also prefer the combination of a keyboard and a mouse but have the option of shifting to a controller. Even though you can connect a keyboard to your PlayStation too, it doesn’t feel the same.

Number of game titles

This is probably a deal-breaker for all of us. Companies like Sony and Microsoft have been trying to lure us into purchasing their consoles by rolling out exclusive games. They do this to shift the odds in their favor.

With the launch of the next-gen consoles around the corner, both companies have promised to release exclusive games that will leave PC out of the picture.

Titles like the Uncharted series and Marvel’s Spider-Man are exclusive to the PlayStation and have probably become two of the most recognizable titles in the world.

The debate about PC versus console gaming has been around for decades now. Each has its pros and cons. But it’s a matter of preference and what suits your style of play.
