To get into Monolith, devs need to satisfy 3 criteria:
- First, the need to have experience developing a 3D action game.
- The second requisite was having experience in working in a large team on an AAA project.
- And the third requirement was to have experience using game engines.
The post stirred up the community, with many hoping for a new Xenoblade game from the studio. While nothing is confirmed yet, fans started taking their speculations to the comments section of the post.
In a 2022 ask the developer interview with Nintendo, Tetsuya Takahashi said about the third game, “This title is the third entry in the Xenoblade Chronicles series following Xenoblade Chronicles (2) and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and is like the culmination of the trilogy.” Later in the interview he was asked, “So, by “culmination”, you don’t mean that it brings closure to the series, but rather that it rounds out the trilogy thematically,” to which he replied, “Yes, that’s right. I guess you can say that this is like a summary for moving on to the next step in the future.” While it doesn’t confirm a 4th game, it leaves the door open for future possibilities.
