Epic set to bring instrument controllers to Fortnite Festival
Remember using those Guitar Hero controllers back in the day? It’s been a while since devs have done custom controllers for their games like Guitar Hero used to do. The official Fortnite blog has a detail that has good news for lovers of using a guitar and drum controller to play rhythm games.
In the FAQ section, there is a question that asks “Does Fortnite festival support instrument controllers?” The answer to that is “Not at launch, but it’s a priority for the team and currently under development. We’ll have more to share in 2024.”

This means that Fortnite will carry on the legacy of Guitar Hero by introducing new players to this genre. The that fact Fortnite will get control support gives rise to many ideas of what is possible with the Festival game mode.
Although, for now, this means that players will be able to use their old instrument controllers in 2024. It also brings in the chance for Epic to work on new controllers. Fortnite is one of the most popular games out there. The Festival mode had 750,000 players getting in on the action within just the first hour of its launch.
Fortnite is always known to work with musicians. This might bring about the possibility of having frequent concerts in the future.

For this, players will need to wait until next year to get native support from the devs. Although support for the controllers will come in 2024, Epic has not yet revealed a date or given a time window. Once players have native support, they can showcase their skills and have a more immersive experience with the mode.

Looking at how Epic Games strives to innovate, we can speculate that players will be able to use Midi instruments to play the game. Players who are musicians can take advantage of this and unleash their melodic powers and play the concert of a lifetime. While this is just an idea, we’ll have to wait for Epic Games to reveal their plans for the future. We can only wait and see when Fortnite will get controller support as Epic works on including it.
